Alan Budden
Alan is a Chartered Architect, Certified European Passivhaus Designer and Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Assessor. As founder of Eco Design Consultants he combines his two passions, architecture and sustainability. The company’s ethos is to put people and ethics first, with a FUN and efficient building design.
Eco Designs consultant’s projects include a Technology Strategy Board (TSB) retrofit demonstration project that has reduced the homes total CO2 output by over 80% and a new Passivhaus for Milton Keynes Parks Trust. The practice is also working on several EnerPHit projects providing detailed design, Passivhaus consultancy and renewable’s strategies. Alan also enjoys his role as sustainability tutor for post graduate students of Architecture at Birmingham University.
In his previous role as an Associate for PRP Architects he led a team providing both environmental consultancy and Architectural design. In his role as an Architect he has led on many innovative projects including: the Sigma Home the countries first 5 Star house under the code for Sustainable homes. He also led the team to design the 5 star, Greenhart Grove, in Huntingdon with low embodied energy through its use of a contemporary straw bale system.
