John Alker
John Alker is Campaign & Policy Director at the UK Green Building Council. John’s background is in communications and public affairs, having started his career working in Parliament, before moving into commercial public affairs and then lobbying for the environmental charity WWF. John joined the UKGBC shortly after it launched in 2007 – and leads their advocacy and campaigning. He is also a Board Director of WorldGBC, which now has a presence in around 75 countries.
In 2014 he authored a high profile global report on health, wellbeing and productivity in offices, and has since overseen UKGBC’s growing work in this area. This has included work on health and wellbeing in retail, and the residential sector. He helped set up the WorldGBC health & wellbeing campaign Better Places for People, and now sits on the global steering group.
