Phil Bixby
Architect and Passivhaus Designer, Constructive Individuals
Phil has worked extensively in sustainable housing – his first built project was at the 1985 Energy World exhibition. Following that he worked for many years with community self-build projects across the north and ran courses for individual self-builders, helping a number to go on to build energy-efficient homes for themselves. He designed a number of low-energy social housing projects in York, and trained and qualified as a Certified Passivhaus Designer in 2010. Since then he has been involved with Passivhaus and low-energy projects across Yorkshire, with a particular focus on combining reduced energy demands with integrated renewables, especially photovoltaics. He loves the design of space, and quite likes people, but is also passionate about a good spreadsheet.
