Tom Dollard
Head of Sustainable Design, Pollard Thomas Edwards
Tom is an Architect and Head of Sustainable Design at Pollard Thomas Edwards (PTE). Tom works across the practice to promote a sustainable approach to all projects and to provide project teams with the requisite awareness, training and support. Tom is also directly involved with PTE’s projects, and has delivered low energy schools and housing across the UK, including Virido Concept House, Highbury Quadrant, Rushey Green School and Cygnus E-Smart (passivhaus) modular housing. Tom’s work for the Zero Carbon Hub (2013-2016) includes writing the Builders’ Book and the Services Guide to address the performance gap in the delivery of energy-efficient homes, based on 21 case studies around the UK. In 2018, he wrote “Designed to Perform”, an illustrated guide to designing and constructing better homes, which uses passivhaus case studies to demonstrate good practice for large scale housing. He is a Director of the Good Homes Alliance and a core trainer for the Green Register of Construction Professionals. He is a certified Passivhaus designer. Tom leads the design and site review process for the UK Government’s ‘Building for 2050’ project which will set out the required steps to accelerate the uptake of low carbon homes.
